I spent this weekend with some of the most amazing Women(and I Gentleman) that I know. Luckie of OurGeorgiaRoots, Sandra of I Never knew my Father, Mavis of Georgia Black Crackers, and Sandra’s Brother Bernard decided to get together for the Southeast Family History Expo in Savannah, GA, but it was more than that to me. It was more about spending time with family, like cousins getting together that had not seen each other in a long time!
We booked our rooms at different times and requested Managers Choice, and did he choose correctly. My room was the Library, filled with warmth, a fireplace, and plenty of books. The kind of room that you would want to cuddle up in with a good book and have a nice fire going in the fireplace. I never spoke to any one that reading was one of my favorite past times, but the room fit me to a tee!!!
Luckie’s room was Luckie all over it from the colors to Buddah over her bed. I had to get a picture and named it Luckie in her Blog.

It was more about spending time with family, like cousins getting together that had not seen each other in a long time!I headed out from Union Station in Washington, DC at 9:55 am on Friday for Savannah and arrived to find that Amtrak left my Suitcase in Fayettville, NC. I did not get upset, Again, I was going to see my family, and in true family fashion, they were more concerned about my suitcase than I was!!!
I arrived a the Savannah B&B in the Historic District to find that Mavis had checked in but the others had not made it as yet. Mavis and I spent almost two hours chatting about everything under the sun. I felt that I knew her already. See this weekend was not just about genealogy, it was about folks that met online, who share the same passion, and just needed to get away.
When the others arrived, we immedaitely migrated to Sandra’s room and chatted some more into the wee hours of the night. I was so excited that I had left my Netbook, Room Key, Tote Bag, and Coat in the dining area on the table, when I returned I had found that staff had put my things in a secure area. THANKS for that. Some other place probably would have left it and if it would have come up missing would had said “not my responsibility”. Its always those little things that makes you’re Stay even more special!!
Although we stayed at the same B&B we all had a different room in different locations. Luckie and I stayed in the same place but on different sides.

I wish I would have because if there was a Spirit it allowed two nights of restful sleep that I had had in a long time! This place was so Beautiful, I recommend anyone staying in Savannah to stay at the Savannah B&B, you feel like you are at home.
Although there is more to our trip, I to will be posting more in the future. I have taken a lot of pictures and will be posting some in future post and if you can’t wait then I have created an album on my FaceBook Page.

Arlene(sitting on the left) is my moms first cousin(her dad was Joesph Amos). This picture was taken in January 1988, when my mom(on Arlene’s advice) packed everything up and decided to move from Chicago, IL to Maryland, and our family has been Blessed ever since.
Arlene was an inspriration to us all and encourage us to be and do our best. She was my bother’s Godmother and she will be truly missed.

This award is really worth its namesake, because it truly made me Happy at a time when I needed some Happiness in my life. Thanks Gini of Ginisology I really appreciate this.
In true fashion of the Award I have to name 10 things that make me Happy and then name 10 Blogs that I want to recieve this reward.
Heres my Happiness:
1. My Family and Friends. My mom and Boys are the most important things in my life and they truly make me happy. We can laugh together and at each other and still hold that family togetherness. My Friends are the same way and anyone that I call my Friend is Family anyway.
2. Doing my Genealogy. Since starting my Research over a year ago, I have learned somethings I didn’t know about my family and I also have met some really nice genealogists that has become more like family than my own family. Thats because we are always Tweeting, Blogging, and Emailing each other. We are in each other lives than our own families. (LOVE IT)
3. Reading
4. Blogging
5. Cooking and my Family has no problem when I test a new recipe or bake something different. I love them for that.
6. Shopping. Have an addiction, but I have developed a concept that when I buy something new, I have to get rid of something. Weither Shopping for clothes or groceries I am there
7. Coffee and Tea. Have to have a cup of coffee every AM and if under the weather Tea and Lemon
8. Tweeting. May seem strange, but I love to Tweet and RT
9. Being supportive. I try to read all the Blogs and RT as much as possible, just to let the Fam know Hey I am there for you and I Love when they let me know they are there for me.
10. My alone time. After all is said and done, I love when I get to spend time by myself. Without all of the above. If I just go for a drive, walk, or simple do the me thing, it truly makes me HAPPY!!
