Categotry Archives: Banks

I’VE BEEN BITTEN BY THE GENEALOGY BUG, AGAIN!!

It has been a while since I have done any research or even thought about my Family History. Not because it wasn’t important to me, but Life just gets in the way sometime and our hobbies always end up taking a back seat. Now that the Ancestors are stirring again, there is no way for me to ignore them. My Nola line has always been the most funniest and sometime easiest line to Research considering that the family stayed in […]

SENTIMENTAL SUNDAY: ANOTHER STORY PROVEN TRUE!!

As a little girl growing up, I always heard my Mom say that she had a sister that died during Child Birth. Of course when I started my Research, a lot of the stories I heard growing up were and are still not proven. For sure now I am able to prove one. I was on Ancestry.com and noticed that my Grandmother had a leaf and her information was bumping up against the information that someone had in their tree(actually it […]

WORDLESS WEDNESDAY: MORE ON MY UNCLE EARL, NEVER KNEW!!

Earl C. Banks, more than any other man, put Morgan State University on the map and single-handedly shaped the lives and destinies of hundreds of young black men. He was a legend in his time and one of the greatest college football coaches in the United States posting a fantastic .839 win-loss percentage. There were numerous lofty accomplishments in his 14 years at the helm of the Morgan State football program, including a 31 game winning streak, three unbeated regular […]

WORDLESS WEDNESDAY: EARL CARRIE BANKS

Earl Carrie Banks was NaNa Odessa’s oldest child born in 1926. Son of her first husband Augustus Banks. Earl and my mom were at least 21yrs apart, but he was crazy about his sister Beverly. NaNa Odessa was real big on education and she stressed to all her children to go to college. Not really sure what school Earl went to, but do know he earned a college degree. He also played football and went on to become the Head Football Coach of Morgan […]
